2001- 2002: Tested the Culture Campaign Formula
A rigorously monitored campaign pilot test beginning in May 2001 with the Speak: A Conversation About Race, and in January 2002 with the Sustain-NY: Dine Together restaurant tour supporting restaurants in lower downtown in the wake of events in September. Both campaigns yielded tremendous experience and information about best practices.
2001: Developed the Culture Campaign Formula
The development of a formula for Pop Sustainability's awareness and action campaigns enables the widespread implementation of campaigns, which raise the awareness of sustainability as they impact target audiences, community by community.
2000: Opened NYC Loft
A stylish and comfortable physical, real time gathering space for the cultural, business, activist, and youth communities that is strengthening NYC's sustainability community. Regular gatherings of the sustainability community and social events are held at the headquarters loft in the Chelsea district of New York City.
1999: Started Barcelona Satellite
Pop Sustainability's international outreach program features an initial satellite office in Barcelona, Spain, that produces Pop Sustainability-branded local events, provides content to and promotes ThinkPop.org. The Barcelona office is the regional link to Pop Sustainability's partner, Barcelona 2004, an intergovernmental major event to highlight cultural diversity, sustainable cities and peace.
1999: Launched PopSustainability.org
The objective of this corporate web site is to serve as a promotional platform for Pop Sustainability's full range of activities and as a hub for ThinkPop.org.
1998: Developed Initial Fundraising & Awareness Events
With the dynamic involvement of its Board of Directors and Advisory Committee, Pop Sustainability solicits funds through events and sponsors, both for operating the organization as well as for its programs.
