Celebrities and Corporations Nominated for the 2005 Pop Icon Award

Los Angeles, CA April 24, 2004 – In April 2005, one celebrity and one corporation will be selected as the recipient of the first annual Pop Icon Award. All of the nominees of the Pop Icon Award are exemplary promoters of sustainability. Amongst the hundreds of awards given out every year, the Pop Icon Awards recognize the successful efforts of one brand and one celebrity to be both an active participant and a known entity in creating a more sustainable world. Young adults are demanding more from the businesses they buy from and the celebrities they look up to. Sustainability is an up-an-coming favorite amongst those demands.

Esai Morales & Sharon Lawrence, Special Guests at the OSSA’s A national promotional effort will kick off in September 2004 to garner the votes of young adults and select the most popular. The winners will be announced at the award ceremony in 2005 to be held at the new 2000 seat auditorium of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles designed by architect Frank Gehry.

The Outstanding Sustainable Style Awards, an invitation only event, recognizes outstanding social and environmental efforts across style industries that help us all "look fabulous, live well and do good". The OSSAs are designed to showcase the amount and breadth of sustainability efforts underway in style industries, as well as foster cross-industry awareness and inspiration. Above all, the OSSAs provide incredible role models for us all to look up to. Sean Schmidt of Sustainable Style Foundation with the Pop Icon Awards
